Welcome to Wild Sauna Gudvangen
The sauna is located in a cute little village, called Bakka, right in the middle of the UNESCO world heritage site by Nærøyfjord. It is a 50 minute drive from Voss and only a 25 minute drive from Flåm. Directly outside the sauna door you can jump into the fjord for a refreshing dip. Our little barrel sauna has a panoramic window, so that you can enjoy the incredible views while you're getting warm and cosy.
The famous hikes Bakkanosi and Rimstigen start right around the corner from the sauna. What better way to end a day of hiking than a relaxing sauna session? Or you might want to visit us on an early summer morning, while your campervan is parked at some of the beautiful campsites nearby. Another idea is to visit us after your kayak tour on the fjord. To be honest, you never need an excuse to book a sauna session with us. We promise a memorable experience for all occasions. We also recommend visiting during winter time, to get the unique arctic experience.
What to Bring?
You need your bathing suite, drinking water and a towel to sit on.
How to Get there?
The sauna is located by the boat dock in Bakka. Drive to Bakka and you can’t miss it! Press this link to open directions in Google Maps.
How does it work?
Our sauna has a maximum of 8 drop in slots. If you want to have the sauna to yourself, you can book a private session. We allow a maximum of 10 people for the private sessions.
When booking, you will receive a code via text and email. Use the code to open the padlock on the door. We will make sure the sauna is warm when you arrive. It takes 1-2 hours to heat up in the summer and 2-2.5 hours in the winter. Please book in advance so we can get it nice and toasty before you arrive. You are welcome to drive all the way up to the sauna, there is a parking lot there for you. Water bucket for the oven can be filled up in the water tank outside. Do not use water from the fjord! The sauna has a small changing room, but no shower.
Our sauna operates under a simple and affordable self-service model. It relies on your cooperation to operate smoothly. Please do not disturb other guests outside of your booked time, and leave the sauna clean, close both doors and lock it when you are finished. Please keep in mind that we share the beautiful village of Bakka with other tourists, businesses and residents. Show respect by obeying local parking rules, taking your trash with you, keeping noise to a minimum and avoiding the campsite bathrooms and property if you are not a campsite guest.
